The horsemanship 1 class is
for horses that can be saddled and ridden. It is designed
for riders who want to improve their horsemanship and their
horse’s abilities. Buck will demonstrate several ways to
improve your horses’ balance, suppleness and sensitivity to
your cues. He will show you how to improve communication
between the rider and horse which will allow you to use less
pressure and make your horse more willing and accurate in
all his movements.
Limited to 25 horses and
riders.

For the
refinement of both horse and rider
This
class will be a Horsemanship 2 class without cattle.
All roping will be done on roping dummies.
1. For experienced
riders and experienced horses.
2. If one of the two
is green, then please register for Horsemanship 1.
3. Horse and rider
should be able to perform the following maneuvers
a. Ride a smooth circle,
at trot and lope on a loose rein with a round body, nose
looking into the circle with the front quarters and
hindquarters reaching evenly.
b. Simple lead changes
(preferably flying lead changes)
c. Counter canter
d. Simple spins
e. Gentle horse (not
spooky)
f. Horse should be
comfortable to rope on. We will use roping dummies.
g. Good control of horse's
hindquarters at all times
4. Horse should be
in a hackamore, two rein or straight up in the bridle. Can
be in snaffle bit, ready to go into the hackamore. If this
is the case, please bring a good rawhide core bosal with a
mecate for Buck to fit to your horse.
5. Please be honest
about your ability and the ability of your horse, Buck will
not work on basic horsemanship, taking time away from those
qualified to be in this class. Also, with limited
enrollment, we do not want to turn away qualified
participants by enrolling unqualified participants. If
you have any doubt in your ability or the ability of your
horse, please enroll in Horsemanship 1. Limited to 15
riders and horses.
All
participants required to complete waiver upon registration.
Guardians must sign for minors. Please notify us if
guardian will not attend clinic and we will mail a waiver
form. Minor will not be allowed to participate if waiver is
not signed by guardian before the class starts.

campground.
